Most of my more than 50 years of preaching the gospel have been in mission areas; in Georgia, Alabama and Ukraine. In the year 1990 the Smyrna, Georgia elders who were supporting Helen and me in Washington, Georgia, a mission area, informed me that they were moving us to Carrollton, Georgia which at that time was considered a mission work. The church in Carrollton was struggling.
There were two congregations in the Carrollton area at the time and the Smyrna elders asked me to do what I could to bring the two congregations back together. Today, 20 years later, thanks be to God, the church in Carrollton is growing. With a nice, comfortable building and a new, sound in the faith, gospel preacher, as the saying goes, "the sky is the limit."
The West Georgia congregation is helping to spread the gospel by supporting the Search for Truth television program as well as the Gospel Broadcasting Network. We support Sergei Gritsenko in Ukraine and Uchenna in Nigeria. We wish we were able to do much more, because our marching order from our Lord is to "go into all the world."
The state of Montana is a mission area. Helen and I have been going to Hamilton since the fall of '07. The church there, consists of about 50 faithful members, located in the Bitter Root Valley, with only one other congregation, which is some 17 miles away. This congregation in Stevensville, the oldest town in the state, is much smaller than the church in Hamilton. The Lord willing, we will return to Hamilton later this year to resume our work with the church there. Why? Because Jesus said "GO!"
