This past Sunday was a great day for the Lord’s church at West Georgia. Our goal was to have everyone bring one visitor on January 31. Certainly each member did their part since we had 120 in Bible class and 175 in worship. Many of those in attendance were visitors.
This effort demonstrates the willingness of the congregation at West Georgia to do the work our Lord commanded in the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20). Because of their love for the truth and their desire to see souls saved they have gone about to teach that message to their friends, neighbors and coworkers.
James 1:22 admonishes that we not only hear the word but that we be doers of that word. Sitting in a pew on Sunday morning in a well tailored suit is simply not sufficient to qualify one as a follower of this command. The goal day we set this past Sunday was just one example of those at West Georgia doing the Lord’s work as taught in James chapter one.
Another example of the great work of the members at West Georgia is in their giving. This past Sunday night our Elders presented the budget for 2010 which includes several new mission works and increases in others. At that presentation it was noted that even in difficult economic circumstances we exceeded our budget for 2009.
It has been said that the past does not equal the future and that is certainly true of the West Georgia Church of Christ. It is true because what they will accomplish in the work of the Lord this year will be far greater than what happened last year. Simply put, there is nothing that cannot be accomplished because of their willingness to work, work, work in the vineyard of the Lord.
